The Document That Changed Everything

Caren Glasser Tools & How-To
Caren Glasser, The Tech Evangelist

Every private client I work with gets a document.

Not a welcome packet. Not a checklist. Something more fundamental than that.

I call it a Brand Brain. And the shortest way I can describe it is this: it’s the document that tells AI who you are before you ask it to do anything for you.

Let me explain why that matters.

Most people open an AI tool the same way every single time. Blank screen. Fresh start. No context. And then they wonder why what comes back doesn’t quite sound like them — why it’s a little generic, a little flat, a little off in ways they can’t always name but always feel.

The problem isn’t the tool. The problem is that the tool doesn’t know you yet. And you’re starting from zero every single time.

A Brand Brain fixes that.

Here’s what mine contains: my full name and title. My tagline — clarity comes before tools — and why it exists. A positioning statement. My short bio, the real one, the one that includes Rhino Records and livestreaming synagogue services on dial-up in 1993. My brand philosophy, broken down into the principles that shape every single thing I create. A complete picture of my audience — how they feel, what they need, the exact language they use to describe being lost. My signature frameworks. My teaching style and process. My voice and tone characteristics — including a list of things to always avoid. My color palette. My typography. My visual system. And a section I call Caren-isms — the phrases that sound like me, that have become part of how my audience recognizes me.

And at the very top of the document — before any of that — there is a section called Instructions for AI.

It tells any AI tool exactly how to use what follows. Study this fully before generating any content. Write in first person. Maintain calm authority. No hype. No buzzwords. Remember: she is her audience. She is 69, building alongside them. That lived experience is always present.

When I open Claude with this document in the project, it isn’t starting from zero. It already knows me. And everything it creates starts from that foundation instead of from a blank slate.

That’s the difference between AI content that sounds like it could have been written by anyone — and AI content that sounds like you.

The Brand Brain is what I’m about to run through Cowork to finally get organized. Because even the woman who built the document has a folder situation. (We talked about this Monday.)

But here’s what I want you to sit with today, whether you’re a private client or not:

What would it look like if AI already knew you every time you opened it?

What would you put in that document?

Start there. You don’t need it to be perfect. You just need to start building it.

What’s the one thing you’d most want AI to always know about you before it writes anything? Tell me below.
