Christopher Always Knows Which One Is His
Christopher has buckets of toys. I’ve bought him all of them, if we’re being honest — the rope, the balls, the squeaky things, the ones that seemed exciting in the store and turned out to be a one-day wonder.
But here’s what I love watching: when it’s time to play, he doesn’t want the buckets. Hold up toy after toy after toy and he’ll glance past most of them without much interest at all. Then you hold up the one — and his whole body changes. He grabs it like it’s the only thing that’s ever existed.
He doesn’t need fewer toys to know what he wants. He just knows it the second he sees it, no matter how many other options are in the room.
No browser tabs. No comparison charts. No wondering what the other dogs are doing.
I’m still working on that kind of clarity. He’s got a head start — and he didn’t need a course to get there.
Happy Friday — go enjoy your weekend, and maybe take a page from the dog: you can have the whole bucket and still know exactly which one is yours.
