Fear & Mindset
I Made the Mistakes So You Don't Have To. Here's the Biggest One.
For a good while, the pressure to know everything about AI nearly swallowed me.
Every new tool that launched — I bought it. Every article, every breakdown, every “this changes everything” post — I read it, and then I tried the suggestions myself. New platform? Signed up. New feature? Tested it that week. I was determined to stay ahead of the field, because being current — being the best at what I do — is not optional for me. It’s who I am.
And here’s what got lost in all of that: somewhere in the pressure to know everything, I forgot that I didn’t need to.
The Realization That Changed It
I’ve built websites. I’ve done the technical work. I know my way around the guts of this stuff.
But one day it landed: I don’t need to be an expert on the coding and the website building and the technical layers underneath. That’s not my job. That’s not what my women need from me. I just needed to know enough — enough to do it, enough to demo it, enough to guide someone through it with confidence.
And the moment I gave myself permission to know enough instead of everything, something unlocked. I got to come back to the thing I actually love. The thing I’m actually here for.
Training. Teaching. Taking a woman who’s overwhelmed by all of this and helping her get clear.
Clarity before tools. I say it all the time — but I had to apply it to myself first.
The Filter I Use Now
Here’s the part I want to be honest about: I still buy the shiny objects. (My credit card statement is a tour of the AI industry.) I still read everything I can get my hands on. I still test things the week they launch. That hasn’t changed — and honestly, it won’t. Curiosity is the engine.
What changed is that every choice now goes through one filter:
Is this something I need to learn for my tribe — or is this something I want to know to stay current and on the leading edge?
Both are allowed. But they’re different jobs. One is for you — the women I serve, who need me to have already made the mistakes so you don’t have to. The other is for me — the part of me that genuinely loves this field and wants to be standing at the front edge of it.
The pressure only wins when you can’t tell those two apart. When every new tool feels like a test you’re about to fail. When “staying current” stops being curiosity and starts being fear.
What This Means for You
If I — someone who does this for a living, who has the time and the reasons to chase all of it — don’t need to know everything… you really don’t.
You need to know enough. Enough for your business. Enough for the jobs you’re actually doing. Enough to stay yourself while the field keeps moving.
The rest? That’s somebody else’s job. (Mine, actually. I made the mistakes so you don’t have to. It’s on the business card.)
So this week, I’m giving you the permission I had to give myself: stop trying to keep up with the field. Keep up with your needs. Let the rest go.
You’ll be amazed how much room that frees up — and what you do with it.
