Is It Normal to Feel Overwhelmed by AI?

I had eye surgery a few weeks ago. It’s been a six-month journey, with two starts and stops before I finally had it. I’ve been out of commission for the past several weeks, and when I came back, I felt like technology, AI specifically, had moved on without me.

I’m overwhelmed by the amount of information I’m coming across, all of it things I have to learn so I can teach them. And I’m painfully aware that if I’m overwhelmed like this, I can’t even imagine what others are feeling.

One thing was very specific. Up until my surgery, I’d been talking about a prompt library. That’s a collection of the instructions you type into AI, saved so you can use them again. Mine was built around prompts I had used myself, and I thought women would feel supported by it.

I came back, and we’re not really talking about prompts anymore. We’re talking about skills. A skill is more like writing down how you do something once, so AI can follow those steps every time.

All I want to say is Oy.

So now I’m finding myself learning again.

I’m tired. I’m wondering how I’m going to keep up. And at the same time, I’m excited to learn. It’s a dilemma.

So I changed the way I write my blogs. I created a skill around it.

It didn’t feel hard to build. But I built it five days ago, and I’m just now jumping in, because I was scared it wasn’t going to work.

That sounds dramatic. But right now I feel like so many of the women I talk to.

Claude and I have created an amazing way of working together. We walked through these changes together. But as I write this, I don’t know yet if it works. I won’t know until I finish. LOL.

Sometimes all we can do is pick ourselves up and take another step.

Once you know what you’re really afraid of and address it, the next step is a whole lot easier.

So what are you really afraid of when you think about AI?
