I Own Everything Now

Eleven days. That’s what Manus gave every subscriber to get out before the accounts were gone for good. I used every single one of them.

Here’s what I did with that time: I moved everything — every site, every page, every piece of content I’ve built — onto hosting that belongs to me. Not rented. Not borrowed. Mine, on infrastructure I control, with my own domain and my own backups. If the company hosting my sites vanished tomorrow, I would still have everything I need to put it all back up by the end of the week.

That’s what owning, not renting, actually means. Not a slogan. Not a nice line for a blog post. A plan you can execute in eleven days because you already know exactly what you have and where it lives.

I won’t pretend the last two weeks were fine. They weren’t. I had a launch planned, and it didn’t happen — not because the work wasn’t ready, but because I was too busy rebuilding the ground under my business to also build the thing on top of it. There was a night in there where I came close to letting the whole thing go. Not seriously. But close enough that I’m not going to pretend it wasn’t awful.

Here’s what I keep coming back to: this happens to the best of us. Platforms cancel accounts. Companies pivot, get sold, shut down overnight, with or without warning. Getting caught by that once isn’t a sign you did something wrong. It’s a sign you need a plan for the next time — because there’s always a next time, somewhere, eventually.

So the launch is delayed. Not dead. I’m not walking away from it, especially not now, after proving to myself the hard way that I can rebuild faster than a platform can knock me down.
