I have made every mistake you’re afraid of making. Not most of them. Not “I get it, I’ve been there once or twice.” Every single one.

I have bought a tool because someone I trusted said it would change everything. I have paid for a year upfront because the discount was too good to pass up, and then never opened the thing again. I have three different AI writing tools on my credit card statement right now that do, functionally, the same thing — because I kept thinking the next one would finally be the one that made sense.

I didn’t buy my way into understanding. I bought my way into a drawer full of subscriptions I was too embarrassed to cancel because canceling meant admitting I’d wasted the money.

Every “don’t do this” I teach, I’m teaching because I did it first, felt less than capable about it, and then finally asked a different question than the one everyone told me to ask.

The question wasn’t “what tool should I buy?” It was “what do I actually need to be true, and which of these fifty options gets me there?”

Nobody sells you that question. It’s not in the ads. It doesn’t have a checkout button. But it’s the only question that’s ever actually saved me money, time, and my own sense of competence.
